A Taste of Italy. A Recipe for Success | with Riccardo Tarabelsi
On the latest episode of Behind the Business, Founders in the 605, Marcus and Alexis Mahlen sit down with Riccardo Tarabelsi, owner of Vinyahd Restaurant Group, which consists of R Wine Bar, Maribella, Trio Jazz Club, Brix Wine Bar, and Vespa Catering.
Born in Florence, Italy, Riccardo’s family came to the U.S. when he was 5 years old to help out with a family car repair business in Boston. After meeting his wife, Marybeth, at school in Boston, the couple moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to Marybeth’s family. Riccardo worked in health care, but got a second job at an Italian restaurant while his wife was on bedrest with their first son. That’s where his love for the restaurant industry was born.
After creating a business plan and finding an investor, the Tarabelsis opened R Wine Bar in 2018 in downtown Sioux Falls. Post-COVID era led to record-breaking quarters for the restaurant, and the couple started thinking about a second restaurant, which is now known as Maribella. A couple times taking a risk and saying “yes” later, the Vineyahd Restaraunt Group now consists of four bar/restaurants and one catering group, all located in Sioux Falls.
In this episode, Riccardo explains as his businesses have grown over the years, one thing has remained constant: the importance of family and making his customers feel like family.
